It’s no secret that we plan to move to the United States as soon as possible. Immigration is incredibly difficult, and no it’s not as easy as “you get married and then you move”. We’ve been married for almost eight years – it’s not that easy!!
Since the middle of Canada is a much different climate than southern Texas, I figured it would be fun to do a Temperature Quilt for each place. That way, I’d have a fun visual for the differences between each home! The nerd in me also really enjoys seeing variations in trends.
I pulled up a temperature map in Google, and used that as a base for my colours (each colour representing 5 degrees). My original temperature range went from -40 to +35, and 2019 already started off so cold I needed to extend my range to reach -50. And then you wonder why we’re moving to Texas!! (Although I’ll have to extend my Texas temperature range to reach well beyond +35, so I guess it evens out!)

Fabric: Kona Cotton solids by Robert Kaufman
Pattern: Flying Geese blocks
Started: January 1 2019; Finished: ideally, December 31 2019!

Check out those colours!! I’ve finished the first three months of 2019 so far, with each strip representing one month. While I’d love to say I stay on track and do a block a day… it’s more like I record the temperatures and finish each month at the beginning of the next month. At least it’ll keep me quilting throughout the year??
